What is 3D Printing?

3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing (AM), refers to processes used to create a 3D object in which layers of material are formed using a 3D printer. Objects can be of almost any shape or geometry and are produced using a 3D CAD model. 3D Slicing software is used to transform a 3D model file into a file format the 3D printer understands. This file format is commonly referred to as a machine file or gcode file.
